The QOOL Box is a cooler that goes far beyond classic solutions: it works completely without electricity, and thanks to modern vacuum insulation panels in combination with custom-fit Temperature Elements, it is able to maintain refrigerator or freezer temperatures constantly for up to 10 days within the temperature range. Application

For the full cooling performance of up to 10 days, you use the QOOL Box in combination with our Temperature Elements.

The Temperature Elements are pre-cooled at at least –18 °C for at least 12 hours in a freezer or chest freezer.
The Temperature Elements are positioned on the sides and top of the QOOL Box.

For a cooling duration of up to 5 days, fewer Temperature Elements are needed. (QOOL Box M - 2 Elements / QOOL Box L - 4 Elements)

Done! The elements now reliably and consistently maintain the contents within the selected temperature range – completely without electricity.

Frequently Asked Questions about the QOOL Cooler

Does the QOOL cooler only maintain its temperature if you don't open it?

The QOOL Box achieves its impressive thermal insulation performance through the use of vacuum insulation panels, which are installed on all sides, in the lid, and in the base of the box. In combination with the QOOL Temperature Elements, the internal temperature can be kept constant for several days. The box can be opened multiple times without any problems, as long as the lid is closed in such a way that no air exchange occurs.

Does the QOOL cooler also work with standard ice packs or ice cubes?

In combination with our Temperature Elements, the QOOL cooler allows for the precise setting of specific temperature ranges, such as a refrigerator range of +2 °C to +8 °C or a freezer range of -20°C to -10 °C. We can maintain these temperature ranges constantly for up to 10 days.

Compared to conventional ice packs, which are often filled with water, our Temperature Elements offer improved performance. Standard ice packs release a temperature of approximately 0 °C when thawing, which is already too cold for some applications and foods. Our Temperature Elements, however, are able to maintain the required temperatures, thus enabling longer cooling of up to 10 days without electricity. Depending on the needs and requirements for the cooler, other ice packs can also be used in the box.

The situation is similar with ice cubes, as they also consist of water and are around 0 °C when thawing. Since the QOOL Box was specifically designed for use with Temperature Elements, it does not have an outlet for meltwater. Therefore, if ice cubes are used for cooling, we recommend using a bag or a similar container to collect the meltwater.

How must the temperature elements be pre-cooled correctly?

Please freeze the Temperature Elements in a freezer at a temperature of at least -18 °C. Remove the Temperature Elements from the freezer. The inside of the elements should now be solid. The Temperature Elements are ready for immediate use and can be used with the QOOL Box.

The following pre-cooling times are required depending on the temperature range:

Frozen (-20 °C to -10 °C): at least 72 hours

Cool (-2 °C to +2 °C): at least 12 hours

Fresh (+2 °C to +8 °C): at least 8 hours

How do I optimally position the temperature elements in the QOOL Box?

For the QOOL Box M, which can cool for up to 10 days without power, we recommend the maximum configuration with 4 temperature elements of the same size (1 liter). Place one element upright on each side of the handles and place the other two elements on top of the food. The two upper elements have the greatest effect, as cold air sinks downwards and thus flows through all the chilled goods. If you are only traveling for 3-5 days, 2 of the 4 temperature elements are sufficient. These can then be conveniently placed at the side, but for optimal cooling, they should be placed on top of the chilled goods.

For the QOOL Box L, which can cool for up to 10 days without power, a surround system (cooling cube) with 6 temperature elements is ideal. There are 2 different element parts: 2 square elements (for the bottom and lid) and 4 side elements. Place one of the large elements on the bottom of the box. Then insert the 4 side elements with the straight side facing the respective wall. Finally, simply place the lid on top. Here too, not all elements are necessary for 3-5 days.

What box size is suitable for how many people?

QOOL Box M: This version is ideal for 2-3 people. It has a capacity of 27 liters (22 liters with Temperature Elements). This volume allows for a food supply for about one week to 10 days. Alternatively, the box offers enough space for up to 16 bottles with a capacity of 0.5 liters.

QOOL Box L: If you are a group of 4 people or more, we recommend the larger QOOL Box L with a capacity of 43 liters (33 liters with Temperature Elements). This generous size allows for effortlessly storing 24 bottles with a volume of 0.5 liters and offers ample space for drinks and food for a weekend trip with the family.

If the larger Temperature Elements of the QOOL Box L do not fit in your freezer compartment, we also offer a set of 6 size M Temperature Elements as an alternative. These can be found under Accessories.It is recommended to pack the QOOL Box as fully as possible, as this optimizes cooling performance and allows it to keep cool for up to 10 days. Choose the box size according to your requirements and the number of people to ensure the best user experience.
