QOOL in action at Gold Rush: Macherey and Sons – adventure guaranteed
Adventure meets innovation: If anyone knows what it means to break new ground with passion and a true spirit of discovery, it is Andreas Macherey, known from the successful DMAX series Gold Rush in Australia .
The beginning of an exciting partnership
This year, we entered into a special partnership with Andreas Macherey and his team. What brought us together is our passion for what we do – for Andreas, it's adventure; for us, it's the development of products that function reliably under extreme conditions.
Previously, the team used the typical, readily available and inexpensive cooler boxes. However, especially in Australia under the blazing sun, these quickly proved inadequate: after just a few hours, everything had thawed. We at QOOL couldn't stand by and watch that happen any longer.

That's why we equipped Andreas and his team with QOOL boxes that maintain the temperature for up to 10 days, whether frozen, chilled or warm.
"The most important thing in the bush is the equipment, [...]. When we're in the bush, we're in the bush for a long time and usually don't have electricity, so we need something that keeps things cool for a long time. These are the absolute best Eskis [cool boxes], we searched for them for a long time."

The QOOL Bottle – clean water on the go
In addition to the boxes, we also provided Andreas and his team with our QOOL Bottle. Access to clean drinking water is often limited, especially when traveling in remote regions.
Andreas used the bottle directly in a river, quickly sterilizing the water and being able to drink it without hesitation – even in places where you never know exactly what contaminants might be present.
“For us, it’s a lifesaver in the bush – we only need one QOOL Bottle and no longer have to lug around 100 liters […]”
– Andreas Macherey, 2025
A visit filled with golden moments
After his trip to Canada, Andreas visited us in Würzburg – right where our QOOL boxes are made. We showed him how our products are manufactured: from the initial idea and material selection to the final quality check.
Andreas was impressed by the care and dedication that goes into every box – each individual vacuum element is carefully inspected, as are the liquids in our Temperature Elements. In return, he opened his world to us: He told us about his team, the adventures of gold prospecting, and the moments that had moved him most. He was particularly proud to present real gold nuggets that he had brought along for us to look at.
A moment that showed how close two worlds can be – adventure outside, passion and quality inside.
