The QOOL Ice Cube Challenge Part 01

There is a huge selection of different cool boxes in stores and online. In addition to the price differences, there are also big differences between the different boxes in terms of the duration of the cooling performance. We took on the challenge and tested our QOOL boxes together with three major competitors.

The following models were tested: QOOL Box M QOOL Box L YETI Tundra 50 PELICAN 50QT SOVARO 45QT

The boxes were set up in a row outside and completely filled with ice cubes. A temperature logger was placed on the lid of one box to record the outside temperature throughout the entire test. The boxes were opened briefly once every day to record the current ice cube status. The test continued until the last ice cube had melted.

The manufacturers use different insulation materials. SOVARO uses cork, PELICAN, YETI, Dometic and Coleman use polyurethane foam and the QOOL boxes have vacuum insulation panels installed.
